June 15 Lessons learned this weekendRoad bike skills do not directly translate to mountain bike skills.
1 - surfaces are different (pavement vs dirt/gravel) 2 - center of balance is different (steeper inclines and sharper corners) 3 - this is the one that got me. Both tires tend to stay on the ground at all times while road biking... not so much on the mountain 
And it's not the fall that's embarrassing, it's the stupid sound you make when you get the wind knocked out of you... huuughghnngrgrrrroooo!!....gurgle gurgle. When all was said and done though, I had an awesome time! I can't wait to get back out and see some of the mountain bike trails that Santa Barbara has to offer! |
